Business Insights: Ask and Listen

Since March of this year, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused one of the most rapid and dramatic economic downturns in history. This has brought challenges to all aspects of life.

From the financial advisory side, COVID has limited my face-to-face meetings with clients; therefore, I have scheduled Go-To-Meetings and many phone conversations. In all these discussions, I make it a priority to ask how everyone is doing and how they’re managing to navigate during this difficult time.

My job as their advisor is to listen to my clients and see how I can help them. It is important to look at every aspect of their financial situation. Often, we discuss the possibility of rebalancing their portfolios, looking at refinancing their mortgage, or tax loss harvesting.

For some clients, this is an eye opener regarding their current financial position. Some of my clients have had more time recently to review their goals and look at how they can take steps to improve their future success.

During this time, I have provided more financial plans to my clients than ever before. This has been both beneficial to the client and to myself. My clients have a better understanding of their current situation, they feel they can trust me, and this has helped solidify our relationship.

This is a time that our clients need us the most.
