SERVICE STORIES: Lisa Stubbs, Winner of the Inaugural NTSA Richard Ford Volunteer Service Award

Meet Lisa Stubbs, CRES, of Security Benefit, whom the NTSA honored with its inaugural NTSA 2020 Richard Ford Volunteer Service Award.

Regarding community service, Lisa says, “Community service is my passion. It is my desire to make a difference in the lives of people, especially children. Participating in Junior Achievement (JA) of Kansas helps children in my community learn about the economy and financial literacy and gain entrepreneurial skills so that they can reach their potential as productive members of society. Many children do not receive this type of educational anywhere else. You can literally see the lightbulbs go off in their heads as they learn about potential career paths and how they can achieve their financial goals in life. I love that I get to be a small part of their discovery process!”

She continues, “I am also on three other Boards of Directors: Kansas Children’s Service League, Downtown Topeka, Inc., and Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority. My average number of hours of volunteer service annually is approximately 300, divided among many organizations.”

Besides all this and more, Lisa has even run for Mayor of Topeka!

As for commitment to the NTSA, Doug Wolf of Security Benefit, who nominated her for the Richard Ford Volunteer Service Award, says “Lisa Stubbs has been a tireless volunteer and advocate for NTSA, public educators and the entire retirement industry for many years. She has also been a pillar in the Topeka community, serving on numerous boards and being heavily involved in important not-for-profit activities. She consistently teaches the Junior Achievement programming in the K-2nd grades at Whitson Elementary, helps with Hall of Fame and Bowl-a-Thon events, sets up a yearly brownie sundae fundraising party at Security Benefit and assists in getting other Security Benefit Co-workers involved in teaching.”

Lisa is the President-Elect for the NTSA, serves on the NTSA Management Council and Leadership Council, and is a Senatorial Director on the American Retirement Association (ARA) Board of Directors. Lisa has chaired the NTSA Summit multiple times with distinction, and also has served on the CRES and the Business Intelligence Committees.

Lisa Stubbs, role model, we salute you!
