Lowder Posthumously Honored with Bob D. Schiller Award

Eleanor “Ellie” Lowder, TPGC, was honored with the 2023 Bob D. Schiller Award. Lowder, a volunteer with the NTSA for decades, passed on in 2022

Born in 1938 in Virden, IL, Ellie was a loving mother and dedicated wife, and in a time in which it was more traditional for women to not enter the workforce, she defied those norms and built a successful career and business.

Ellie was involved in the 403(b) tax-sheltered account markets since 1961 and was regarded as an expert in the industry. She wrote a number of widely used 403(b) training manuals, taught hundreds of continuing education credit classes, wrote articles for trade magazines, and was a frequent speaker.

Ellie’s volunteer work with the NTSA spanned decades. She was co-author of The Source and The Best Practices Manual, was the voice behind “Ask Ellie,” the NTSA hotline for questions and answers, and generated much content for the MarketBeat and Tech Talk features. She also was a member of the following committees:

  • Business Intelligence;
  • Government Affairs; and
  • Professional Education.

“We are forever grateful” for Ellie’s impact, remarked 2022 NTSA President Chris Zingaro.
