An Inside Look at the NTSA’s Year

Tamara Indianer is my sister, a second-generation NTSA leader and 2018 NTSA President, and I am so proud of her. What she and the NTSA organization accomplished in the last year is outstanding:

  • The creation of the certification program, Certified Retirement Education Specialist, will allow advisors the opportunity to go into school districts, helping overcome school access problems – and most importantly, motivating employees with knowledge.
  • The increase of NTSA membership by more than 50% – from 4,200 members to 6,364 – was no small feat. It will enable the NTSA to grow and engage members in many programs, like the 10 educational webcasts in which more than 1,400 members took part last year.
  • NTSA also updated two resources – The Source and the Best Practices Guide. (Best Practices is available to NTSA members for free in digital format.) Tamara said she considers The Source to be her bible for the industry.

Tamara and the board of the NTSA have accomplished many more things in this last year, and we, the members, are very thankful for all that they do for us.

Tamara is now on the board of the American Retirement Association (ARA), which has 25,000 members along with four other sister organizations besides the NTSA – ASPPA, NAPA, ACOPA and the PSCA. As Brent Neese, our Executive Director, said of her, “Her energy, passion, drive, commitment and hard work has really propelled the organization.”

In talking to attendees at the NTSA Summit last month, I got an overwhelming feeling that the NTSA is so very important to so many of us in the industry, and that we all benefit from a very hard-working, caring and diligent organization.
