What’s it Like Being an Elite Advisor?

“Incredibly motivating” — that’s how 2016 Elite Advisor Josh Decker described being recognized as an NTSA Elite Advisor. He offered his insights on what it meant to him to win the award, and regarding the importance of the award and the qualities that lead to it being bestowed on the best of the best.

“It was incredibly gratifying to be awarded the Elite Advisor award,” said Decker. “It is always a special moment to be recognized by your peers as one of the best in your industry,” he added. And Decker noted that he is not alone in that sentiment. “Other winners have remarked at how proud they were of being part of such a special group,” he said.

But it goes a lot deeper than personal satisfaction.

Being one of the Elite Advisors also means sharing a bond and ideas. “The relationships formed with other Elite Advisors allow for a constant sharing of best practices and innovation in client service,” said Decker. “There are always ideas to be shared among the group, and I have found it is easier to be a better advisor when surrounded and supported by the best of the best,” he added.

The Big Picture

Being an NTSA Elite Advisor also enhances and facilitates heightened commitment to the big picture — service to others through the profession and by improving it.

“I believe that being recognized as an Elite Advisor is incredibly motivating to those who are serious about their profession and the clients they serve,” said Decker. “After receiving the award, I felt compelled to get better in all areas of my practice. While it is gratifying to be recognized for past achievement, I feel like the real result of earning the award is that it ignites a passion to earn it going forward.” And, he said, “It also motivated me to give back to the advisor community and think about advancing the profession in any way that I can.”

“I think the Elite Advisor award does promote the best values our profession has to offer such as trust, integrity, loyalty, diligence and professionalism, said Decker. And, he added, “It provides an excellent example to other advisors on how to go about their business each and every day.”

The 2019 Elite Advisors will be named at the NTSA 30th Anniversary Summit, which will be held Jan. 27-29, 2019 in Tampa, FL. Register here.
