COMPLIMENTARY WEBCAST FOR NTSA MEMBERS!

The webcast outline will be available soon!

There is a saying that experience is the most difficult teacher, because she always gives the test before she gives the lesson. Every professional finds themselves at some point reflecting; I wish I had or I wish I had never. Join in on this conversation with NTSA Elite Advisor winners and nominees to hear how they overcame, shoulda, woulda, coulda to build successful practices.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how to create a marketing plan, establish sales goals and evaluate how to reach those goals.
  • Demonstrate how to develop re-occurring income by creating permanent relationships with clients via contact and “touches.”
  • Break down how to hire with care and diligence so that the “legacy” we build is left in the hands of well-educated and competent young advisors.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Bruce Smith

Bruce Smith is a registered representative for PlanMember Securities. His clients are primarily school districts, corporations and non-profits. He owns CalPro Network Financial Services, one of the first financial centers co-branded with PlanMember. His firm and its representatives manage over $350 million in client assets. Smith has been one of PlanMember Securities top three representatives for the last 11 years.

Smith’s career began as a corporate controller. He later began work advising educators in the 403(b) market. From the very beginning, he believed in addressing whole groups as a way to reach more employees and help them understand the need to build a healthier retirement. He is convinced that educators are under served in this area and that the key to reaching them is education. Smith has served on PlanMembers' Partners Advisory Board and seeks to instill in other PlanMember representatives the need to take an active role in serving clients’ financial needs.

Smith has also been active in helping to protect the 403(b) industry and the choices that it makes available to those whom it serves. He and other key 403(b) advisors have twice raised funds, worked together and defeated legislation on the state level in California that would have sharply limited the options employees in the education sector would have in establishing a retirement account.

Smith has a degree in accounting and finance from Eastern Michigan University.

He also has been a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) since 1984 and served on NAIFA’s Iowa Board of Directors for many years.

Dobson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and Marketing from the University of Northern Iowa in 1981. He holds Iowa life and health licenses and is 6, 26, 27, 51, 63, and 65 series qualified.
