What Does the NTSA LC Do?

The NTSA LC is responsible for overseeing the member-driven, non-public policy aspects of NTSA, including, but not limited to, management, strategic and tactical planning, nominating, membership development, research, conferences, awards, education, state and federal advocacy, plan sponsor services, communications — and more.

What Is Involved in NTSA LC Service?

  • Willingness and a desire to make the NTSA ever better — for its members, for its Strategic Partner Council, and for all clients’ retirement future.

  • Chair or Co-Chair NTSA project(s), or, an NTSA Committee.

  • Present an activity report periodically to the NTSA Management Council (MC); be available to discuss with other LC members.

  • Participate in quarterly LC conference calls and meetings; review handouts in advance; question or comment in advance.

  • Two in-person meetings annually, generally the first in conjunction with January annual conference/business meeting, the second during the summer, often including meeting with ARA staff.

What Is the NTSA About?

The NTSA is a national organization of retirement plan professionals who provide consulting and administrative services for 403(b) and 457(b) plans covering hundreds of thousands of American workers. NTSA members are retirement professionals of all disciplines, including consultants, administrators, actuaries, accountants, advisors, broker-dealers, insurance companies, attorneys and more. NTSA is part of the ARA, whose total membership of plan professionals is diverse, but united by a common dedication to the employer-based retirement plan system.

NTSA champions advocacy and education for the industry. Its advocacy mission is to work effectively and proactively with state and local governments to advance public employee retirement security; in addition, NTSA coordinates with the ARA in its federal level advocacy on behalf of its Divisions of Membership. NTSA’s education mission is to provide high quality, forward-thinking, diverse education opportunities for professional development, as well as technical support and networking forums in its retirement industry space, focusing particularly on the K-12, higher education, governmental and healthcare segments, together with all non-profit organizations.

Why Volunteer?

Value and fun! Members of the Leadership Council are all volunteers; projects and committees are all run by volunteers. And that puts them in good company, since volunteers are key to the work of the NTSA and its many achievements on behalf of our industry and the professionals who are a part of it, and, ultimately, the participants whom they serve.
