A. The Security Summit, a group composed of representatives of 62 state and private-sector offices as well as the IRS, suggests multi-factor authentication as well as use of additional measures and tools, including: 

• anti-virus software, set for automatic updates; 
• firewalls;
• backup software/services;
• drive encryption; and 
• virtual private networks.
